It's way easier to convict an innocent person than to put in the work and find the real criminal. There are many reasons why people end up in prison and mostly because contaminated evidence or false confession due to police pressure or if the case goes to trial it can be because a weak defence. There is a certain pattern of why the wrong people end up in prison many of the drug-addicts, mentally ill, homeless individuals simply find themselves repeatedly arrested for minor public order offenses.
When I read your blog I remembered a film called ( Miracle in the dungeon). It was About a man with mental illness who was put in the prison because of a false charge. It’s one of the best films I have ever watched. I recommend you to watch it. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, your post is pretty bleak. It is sad to think that mentally ill people, addicts and homeless people are ending up in prison because of minor offences. Our societies need to focus on providing better facilities for these communities such as shelters & 'supported living' group houses etc. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteDavid :-)
I agree I think that the government should intervene and provide shelters, rehab and education for people who need it.
